Yesterday, I got a call from my daughters school....which usually means either I forgot her lunch money or something's wrong. Turns out it was the latter. During lunch time Mikayla was outside playing with some of her friends & she saw her little friend June, our next door neighbor, getting picked on by a bunch of boys. She's only in kindergarten. So they went to rescue her & one of the boys grabbed my daughter by the side of her head and pushed her to the ground. Somehow, ripping her new earring out of her ear in the process. (Man I don't remember kindergarten & 1st grade being this rough.) So her teacher was calling to let me know what happened & to tell me that Mikayla was really upset.
Knowing my daughter, I could only imagine how upset she was. So I told her teacher I would be down & try & see if we could find it. Thinking it had happened on the black top. So after asking my neighbor to watch the boys, I went to my daughters school, mainly to console my daughter.
No big shocker we never found the earring. She'd lost it in the grass. But me just being there calmed Mikayla down. So I'm glad I went.
Needless to say, I had to buy another pear of studs, since she's only the 1st ones in for not quite 4 weeks. And it was not easy to put in!!!! Her ear was already closing up. But with a lot of patience we finally did it! Plus she likes her new earrings better! They're cute little pink hearts. I was tempted to just get her the ugly cheap gold ones. But I knew she would not be happy @ all. So sucker mom that I was, I spent more & got her the heart ones. I tell you, that was one expensive little birthday present. Maybe that's just me. :)
