Okay...so I've been going through all of my files on my computer and have been backing them up on my external hard drive, just in case our computer gets fried. And yes that has happened to us many times, so this time I'm trying to get a jump on it, just in case. (My 18 month old fried our old computer, just by turning it off & on, so you can never be too safe.)I knew I had a lot of duplicate files & have kind of slowly been going through each folder off & on to delete the said duplicates. A very long, time consuming project.
So about a month ago my husband told me to use this program VisiPics ( http://www.visipics.info/index.php?title=Main_Page ), that scans all your folders for you and comes up with any duplicate folders it finds. I haven't had the time to actually try it until now, but I am absolutely hooked! It is awesome!!! You decide what files you want scanned, you specify how strict of a scan you want it to do, & once it's done you decide whether or not you want to delete those duplicates. Plus it's easy & it works with any picture file! You can even tell it to ignore certain files, or move one file to another. It's great!
Let's just say it saved me many many many hours. Plus I now have a ton more space on the hard drive. Yeh!!! It literally cut down on almost 3/4 of my pictures. I thought I was going to have to buy another hard drive, on top of the one we already have, just to back my pictures up. Not anymore.
