We did it!

We did it!!! We got Mikayla's ears pierced on her birthday! She freaked out @ first, but refused to leave the store until she had it done. And yes, Nathan did know about it! I finally wore him down enough to where he responded with a 'whatever, I don't care.' In Jodi's world, that's as good as a yes. :)

I picked Mikayla up from school & I told her we needed to run an errand for dad, before we went back home. She, of course, was starving so we drove to Wendy's to grab the usual 99 cent chicken nuggets & fries!, then we drove to the Mall parking lot to eat our lunch.
By that time, both Tyler & Jayden were out for the count! So me & Mikayla ate our lunch & I got my camera out to take some Pictures of Mikayla being silly. Tyler woke up about halfway through when mom & Mikayla were bustin' up. :) But Jayden didn't budge. He was one tired little boy.

Well after our wonderful picnic in my van :). Mom woke up Jayden & we proceeded into the Mall. We headed straight for Claire's. Mikayla's never been to Claire's so she didn't know what kind of store it was. We walked into the store & Mikayla just gave me this look like this is what dad needed us to do....okay. So I let the older 2 look around the store for a minute looking at all their little trinkets, while Tyler & I went in search of a sales clerk to find out where the stud earring were they used for the ear piercings.

I called Mikayla over & said 'hey Mikayla look what I found.' To which she replied 'oh I wish I could get my ears pierced' with this sad puppy dog look on her face hugging the plastic casing with the earrings in. Sad I know!

So I responded w/, 'what if I said you could? She gave me this hopeful look. 'I mean it.' Then it hit her. Her whole face lit up & then she kept saying, 'please, please, mom.' How could I resist that face? :) Of course. 'Pick out the earrings you want.'

She ended up picking out a really cute 14kt.pink daisy. It was more expensive, but I didn't want to chance having her get an infection from the titanium ones. So while I filled out the paperwork, since she was a minor, she sat in the chair holding their little stuffed bear, bursting with excitement.

Let's just say she was extremely excited until they pulled out the little gadgets they use to pierce the ears with. Then she freaked out & worked herself into a frenzy! She cried & carried on for like 10 minutes. (Let's just say my Mikayla can be very dramatic @ times!!! And that is an understatement in this case!) I kept telling her to close her eyes. But she'd look directly @ the gadget w/ a look of pure terror in her eyes & refuse to look away. Her eyes looked like they were about to pop out of her head, the poor thing! When they would get close to her ears she would move her head out of their reach & cry harder. I told her at least 5 times, that maybe she just wasn't ready. Let's just go. But each time, I was met with complete resistance. She wasn't leaving until her ears were pierced!
She was taking so long to calm down, though, that they finally had to move on to the next little girl. I told her to watch her & then decide if she still wanted to do it or not.
The little girl was cute. She was younger than my daughter. She was really quiet & had this permanent smile on her face. You could tell she was excited. She didn't even flinch when they got the gadgets out. She sat there quietly without a peep the entire time. Her smile just got wider. It was cute! I almost did an audible sigh of relief. Thank goodness!
Once Mikayla saw how easy it was, she finally calmed down. The sales lady let her hold the ear piercer and see how it worked & then I sat down on the chair first followed by Mikayla on my lap. She grabbed my arms in a tight bear squeeze & closed her eyes. And wha-la! They did it. It was as easy as that. They had put little marks where they were going to pierce. And with one girl on each side, they did it on the count of 3. Easy as pie!!! She didn't even cry! All she said was 'owe mom, that really hurt.' She had got herself worked up over nothing. My baby did great!!!! Plus she got to pick a sucker afterwards. :) She was happy!

Mom was happy until I turned around & saw Jayden drop a whole bunch of key chains all over Tyler's lap in the stroller. Lovely! Then when I went to retrieve them all to put them back on the display, Jayden asked if he could have a candy pez dispenser. I told him no & to put it back. So I continue on picking up & next thing I hear is the crinkling of a wrapper. I glanced over and Jayden had turned his back & was proceeding to open the pez dispenser. Yeh. Mom was not happy! I immediately took it from him, finished putting back the key rings & all the little toys that Tyler was knocking off the displays! And I paid for the earrings & the lovely $4 freakin' dollar pez candy. (can I say rip off) & we hurried out of the store before my kids did anymore damage. Mission completion!
Right by the exit door they had @ least 20 different flavors of bubble gum balls in those little 25 cent machines & I promised Mikayla she could get one on the way out. Which kids never forget if candy is involved! (Smart marketing ploy, by the way. Put them where the kids can see them right as you walk in the door. So if you want to have an enjoyable shopping experience with the kids you have to bribe them with the above mentioned gum. You evil people!) So of course, we had to stop & get some bubble gum. So with kids mouths full of gum we proceeded back out to my van, where Mikayla wanted to call everyone & tell them what she'd just done!

Mikayla was so excited! She wanted to tell my sister Loni first, of course. Her favorite Aunt. She kept calling her several times, to no avail. But she finally got through & got the response she was hoping for. :) She told Loni, my mom, my dad, my nephew Matthew, my nieces Morgan & Tyra & my nephew Josh. And of course, her dad (who already knew) & her Grandpa & Grandma Dunn. Did I mention she was excited?! :):):) While she was talking on the phone, mom took some more pictures. As you can tell, my Jayden loves getting his picture taken :).

It was such a joy to watch how excited she was!!! Thank you, dear hubby, for giving me the green light! :) You made our daughters day!!!
We were all going to go to the Nickel Arcade as a family, to celebrate her birthday, but it was so late by the time we finished dinner, that we decided to just stay home & play games instead (one of Mikayla's favorite past-times! So she was ecstatic to have mom, dad & grandpa & her little brothers play with her. :) ). We had a wonderful time! Mikayla opened her presents from mom & dad, & grandpa & grandma Dunn & we played Cariboo & Trivial Pursuit Jr. (Mikayla's new favorite game), & Tyler entertained us with trying to do summersaults :). It was cute! He had to have help from dad to do a complete one :). I'm glad we stayed home & spent time together instead. It was nice!!!

If you look closely in the 2nd picture Tyler is bawling because dad told him to stop walking on the game board. He had a slight meltdown!

When you're adding photos, it asks you to choose a layout (ex.: none, left, center, right). You choose none. Then once it uploads your photos you drag the photos next to each other. Very simple!
