On Saturday, we were getting ready to drive down to my parents house to stay the weekend when Mikayla got scratched in the eye. She went to pick up her baby brother & he stuck his hand out & poked her in the eye. She kept saying she only got 'poked', but when I finally got a closer look, it definitely looked scratched. Not good! She kept complaining of it hurting, so I found a little play pirate patch to cover her eye with to see if that would help.
She cried 90% of the way down, driving to my parents house. Did I mention she's my dramatic one? :) I felt bad, but I didn't know what else to do, other than to just give it it some time for the pain to go away, & for her not to scratch it. It was a rough drive. She took a nap for about 10 minutes, but that was it.
Mikayla's been asking to go to the Discovery Park in P.G. about every other day the past couple of weeks. So I figured we'd just do something with just us on her actual birthday, & then drive down on Saturday the 21st, to go the Park & spend some time with some of her cousins & stay @ my parents house, to finish off the celebrations. So the eye injury was not a good start to the weekend!
We got a late start, due to the injury and trying to pack & trying to get everything ready for the party. I grabbed some pizzas when we got to A.F. & we were supposed to go straight to the park to meet my parents & sister, Jen, & her kids. But when I pulled up to the park, Mikayla starting getting extremely upset again I called my parents back & asked if my dad could give her a blessing first, so we drove up to my parents house instead. We figured since we were already there we'd just eat the pizzas @ the house & then head down to the park after wards.
The park was crowded! According to the forecast it was was supposed to be a nice day, but it was overcast & windy. Not that the kids cared.
Mikayla seamed to forget about her injury as she was running around playing, but when she went to spin on the little spinning thing (her favorite) she got extremely dizzy which slowed her down for a little bit at least. That was the only downside. That & trying to keep track of 7 kids @ the same time, when each one wanted to go in separate directions. That was almost a joke!!! Augh! I was a basket case by the time we left. My 1 year old was the worst!!! :) He was everywhere! And he could fit into the small spaces mom couldn't go & he knew it & loved it! The cute little stinker. :):):) I'm glad the kids had fun though. It was worth it, to see how happy Mikayla was after, pirate patch & all :).
But when we got back to grandma & grandpa's house afterwords, her eye started hurting even worse. I had to run to Wal-Mart & get some eye drops & a better patch, since the toy one didn't stay in place. It took about a 1/2 an hour for the eye drops to start working enough for her to stop crying. Then she was able to open presents & we had rainbow cupcakes & ice cream that my dad was awesome enough to get for the party. Thanks dad! So all in all it turned out to be a great day, after the initial bad start! My little pirate survived it though :).
Than later that night I actually caved in & watched Twilight, which I swore I wouldn't do. & I actually really liked it, go figure. I even borrowed the Twilight series from my little sister & read them all in less than a week. Go Edward!!! :) Mikayla loved giving everyone the play by play while I was reading them. Mainly Nathan & the neighbors. :). She would tell them how many pages I read; what book I was on; that I had looked it up online; the whole nine yards. Thank you Mikayla for ratting mom out :):). You cute little stinker :)
