Today I spent my morning, doing what all parents dread. Having to call Poison Control! Yeh not fun! This morning when my husband walked into our closet to get ready for work, he found the bottle of Kids Multi-Vitamins on the floor with the lid open! Main suspect? Jayden, my 3 year old. Nathan & I both tried to get him to tell us how many he had taken. Answer: 3-4....then I don't know. Not a good answer!!! Considering for kids his age, he's only supposed to have 1/2 of one. Hence the phone call.
I swear whenever you dial that number, which I have on several occasions, every bad case scenerio runs through your head. At least in this case it did. If you read the bottle, it says (& I'm paraphrasing... 'beware of iron poisoning, the #1 cause of poisoning in kids 6 & under. Call Poison Control if suspect accidental overdose. Can be fatal.' Yay. Once the operator got on & I explained the circumstances of my call, he quickly doused my fears.....well most of them. He said it's very rare to get iron poisoning from children's multi-vitamin. But to be aware of any symptoms: throwing up, unconciousness, diarrhea, etc. He said to call back if he experiences any of these. So with a huge sigh of relief I hang up.
Not less than 5 minutes later, my whole downstairs of my house gets this foul, & I mean FOUL, odor. Nathan put some powder in Mikayla's shoes this morning, cause she didn't want her shoes to stink :), & Mikayla was walking around with these shoes acting like she couldn't stand the smell of the powder. So that's what I attributed the smell to. Well Jayden comes walking around the corner & says 'mom I tinky.' So I told him to go lay down and we'll change him out of his pull-ups. Then he says 'mom I tinky' again. 'Why is it told mom'.
So I turn around to get a closer look at him and he's standing funny, with this even funnier look on his face. Then this little lightbulb in my head goes off. The stench is coming from Jayden! So quickly I hurry him into the frontroom where my diaper bag was and he literally has 'you know what' dripping down his leg. Yeh, gross! So I check to see how bad it was and the bottom half of his shirt is covered in it, and he literally has an inch (I kid you not) of watery substance in his diaper. The vitamins had run their course!!! (Sorry to be so descriptive, but that was literally the worst & the stinkiest diaper I have ever changed in my life, & that is saying A LOT!!!!)
As quickly as I could, without actually passing out from the stench, I cleaned him up and put on a new pull up, & immediately called the guy back @ the Poison Control center. Thinking okay now something's seriously wrong. In the same calm monotone voice, he asks me if he's also vomiting, which I replied in the negative. 'There's nothing to worry about. That's normal in cases like this. It's the sugar in the vitamins that gives them diarrhea. Just watch him closely and if he starts to vomit along with the diarrhea...call back.' Thank you! click Lovely!
After hanging up, I threw his clothes in the sink caked in Anti-bacterial soap & go to open up all the downstairs windows to air out the pungent aroma. Whew! Well just as I'm about to open the windows in the room off the kitchen, I notice a bunch of little white pieces of something on the floor. It was on the other side of my elliptical machine, so I didn't get a close enough look to see what it was, until I noticed the lamp was no longer standing upright! My little Tyler had knocked over my lamp and shattered the glass bulb!
This all happened as we were about to walk out the door to take my daughter to school. Which, needless to say, she was 10 minutes late. This was the worst morning ever!!!

I don't think my Jayden would agree with you on that one:). I just wanted to turn tail & RUN!! I think it's hilarious :)you got pictures of your little one!!! I think if I took pictures of Jayden, nobody would ever come back! It was that bad! All I gotta say is, thank goodness for Bleach! I was this close to just throwing away all of his clothes!!!
